Back in the 356 days, the doors were leaded in completely, then the cut lines were literally cut in, to keep the gaps as straight and even as possible. Talk about hand craftmanship.................

Actually, I suppose that's not necessarily a bad thing... if it gives you the smoothness you want despite less-than-ideal panel manufacturing tolerances. I wonder if any modern car still uses that approach.
