Iso and Iso Rivolta?
« on: July 24, 2006, 04:54:13 AM »
Hmm, this puzzles me. Yesterday I learned something new about Iso, I think. Until now, I believed that Rivolta was a certain Iso model, their first normal car (after the Iso Isetta micro car). But yesterday I found that the firm changed the name from Iso to Iso Rivolta after the Isetta period, and that their first normal car as Iso Rivolta was called just GT. How I discovered this was that the 4 door model Fidia in the first year of production was called Iso Rivolta S4. Here is a picture I found, the blue car is called Iso Rivolta S4 and the gold car is called Iso Rivolta Fidia:

And at this internet page the Isetta is called just Iso Isetta, and the rest of the cars are all called Iso Rivolta Something:

But is my new conclusion correct? Was the Grifo named Iso Rivolta Grifo or just Iso Grifo? Was the Lele named Iso Rivolta Lele or just Iso Lele?

Iso Rivolta & Iso Grifo models, both products of Iso Rivolta Automobiles. Iso Rivolta (the company) was formed in 1953, as a re-organization of Isothermos, a manufacturer of refrigeration equipment.

Here is the brochure I found:
