Classic Car Price - 2
« on: February 17, 2007, 08:48:12 AM »
I was at Retromobile yesterday and looked at cars for sale and for auction tonight - Saturday 17th Feb. This car is expected to break all car price records this evening - they are talking of over $20 million. You'll be able to see how much it fetched on the Christies site in a day or so if you wish. While there, I saw a friend on a stand - this one hour after the show had opened - and he had already sold a D type for £1.5 million. That's about $2.8 million at the moment.

Is this an actual V-16 Auto Union racecar or one of the replicas?

whichever it is, it's simply beautiful, I'd love to be able to see one up close........

It is a D type A-U, i.e. the 12-cylinder 3 litre
Last I heard it had been withdrawn from the Christie's sale
Opinionated but sometimes wrong
