Djetset - Renault R8-based Mystery Car 1
« on: November 01, 2009, 07:39:23 AM »
Does anyone know what the white and red coupe is below?, because I don't.  I took these photos from a poster I spotted yesterday, used to promote a historic car meeting in Northern France.  I've never seen this before, but if it helps, I assume it's French.  The wheels seem to be Renault R8, with Peugeot 404 wheel covers at the front.

Any ideas, and if you can provide evidence of what it is, I shall give you a point gratefully.

Thanks for the Star billing on the home page; this might help resolve the mystery as to what this car is.  ;D

Each time I find a car like this, I compare them...but without success so far.
I won't forget this...

Others seem to stumble on answers with some regularity whilst looking for new puzzles or other answers.  I never do.  Ever..

The car is for sale right now. It has a fiberglass body and a 1300 cc Renault engine (type 810 E). It is supposed to date from 1968.

Wow Wendax, that's quite a find! Very well done, especially after so long.  It's interesting to see that the car is registered in the French departement 24 (Dordogne), which is some distance from where the first photos were taken, at a classic car meeting near Lille (59).

I suspected that this mystery machine would be Renault 8-based, so it's good to confirm that it is.  I will add a point to your tally for this great find, but I will keep the Puzzle open as we still don't know who built this car, or if it has a name.  So, if anyone can add any additional information, more points await...
