Let's try a different approach, maybe someone on the journalism side of things. Jenkinson?

No, he was neither a journo nor called Jenkinson!

Moss?

D-type tried Moss on 10th September.
The answer then was no too, but I'll say now that that is the right path to follow as there was a connection there..

No.

Francis ?

This was the name I was looking for, but checking my file for this one I am embarrassed to say I got the name wrong...
So it's not Francis, it's nothing to do with Stirling Moss, and the name is not the same as someone known in motor racing circles.
Very sorry, but we are right back at square one...

:

lmao: That'll teach me after that  mild rant about the Mickey Thompson car. I've been brought down to earth with a thump.

So, let's start again. Can we assume that it's a British-built special, and based on a popular family car?

No, the base car is not from 1949, it's not an Allard and the re-body is not from 1956!

It looks too large to be Austin 7-based. Is the donor car a Morris 8hp ?

Halifax Panel Beating made chassis for Morris 8hp specials. The body could be any one of a number of proprietary shells, although it does appear to have been modified - not difficult when using GRP. I think maybe an early Rochdale or even Markham-Peasy body.

Are we now just looking for the builders name?

"What's this, who built it, when and based on what from when - for 1 point?:" were the original questions asked.
We've ascertained what it was based on, so you could say that's the first and fourth questions answered, leaving the second, third and fifth still to be answered!
