Nobody has dared to name the base car in case you lock it for them!
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

I wouldn't have thought it was a Trials Car as the clearance between the wheels and mudguards is not big enough, but I don't know what it was used for for sure.

It didn't have an Austin chassis but it did have a Ford 1172 side-valve, yes.

I've just realised that nobody's asked the country of origin. Was it built in the UK ?

Was its chassis sourced from a manufacturer that was once part of BLMC ?

The chassis-maker was part of BMC in later years..

As far as I know the only manufacturer that got merged into BMC in later years was Jaguar in 1966, and the puzzle car seems way too small to be Jaguar-based. So, in your last reply, do you mean BMC, BMH or BLMC ?

"Later years" is of course a relative term.
I mean later in the life of the company rather than earlier.  But not as late as Jaguar.
They were part of all three of those companies you mention.

Alright, I thought you meant later in the life of BMC.

So, is it based on a Morris chassis ?

I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

Carnut

Neither Morris nor Riley..
