As it's not an Alfa, is it perhaps German?

The 'German' question was based on the general feel of the car and the resemblance of the radiator shape to the Auto Union Grand Prix car.  Could it be the Auto Union sports car from the late thirties that might have been named with any of the Auto Union brands: Audi, Horch, Wanderer, and DKW.  All purely speculation.

I do agree totally!

It has appeared in this 1936 german magazine advertisement for a car care product.

And this is all I know.

Perhaps the front was modified by a graphic artist, but the key to the cars identity seems to be the recessible windscreen. I'm quite sure I have seen that one before. If I just could remember where...

Well, surely it must be one ot those... :D

No, what make me wonder is that fully integrated chassis, that is flush to the upper bodywork.

I do not know any other car with this destinctive detail.

Its overall appearance reminds me much of an Adler Trumpf Junior Sport, but the details are totally different.

Could that be a Gläser logo between door and hood? (The car is from Dresden.)

Yes, very likely.

I´ll post it in the german Gläser Forum, too.

Maybe they will know more...

Update:

it seems to be a Steyr 120 or 125 Super with a Gläser Spezialroadster body.
Bring me another photo and the point will be yours...
