Well the most obvious East Asian country after China would be Japan I guess, but that just leaves me lost... My mind keeps circling to "Toyota Land Cruiser Prado" (four words) but it can't be that... :huh:

It is from Japan, it is a Toyota.  It is not a Land Cruiser (or Prado).

Brian Chase's book 'Still Unsafe At Any Speed' exposes these based-on-a-pickup SUVs for the deathtraps they are. It's worth a read. Car manufacturers who build these vehicles (especially Ford) were completely disinterested in whether customers who buy these things are killed or injured because of their cars' unsuitable chassis designs. I'm not sure that this kind of thinking doesn't still hold sway, but my gut feeling that some Chinese and Far Eastern SUV offerings may also be far less than safe.
