These "things" are commonly used in the UK as wedding cars, being usually advertised as "vintage" cars even though I think the base is a Granada/Scorpio. The brides don't care.

My daughter is engaged to be married. I have advised her that if she hires one of these monstrosities I will not attend her wedding. The shame!

I don't know what the mechanicals are but the cockpit and doors are from a Mk 1/2 Mini!
I've always seen them referred to as a Beauford Open Tourer but I don't know if that is its official name.
