I'll let it play, but I'll just say I know the builder's wires and know where it was parked.
It is an electric vehicle with interchangeable batteries.
The builder was a miller and he produced his own electricity. He therefore recharged his batteries, placed in boxes, while the vehicle was driving with another set of batteries. On the way back, all you had to do was exchange the boxes and it was off again without waiting!
The brother of this builder had built an agricultural tractor based on a military Dodge front end, keeping only the gearbox engine and front axle. By installing another front axle, he obtained a 4-wheel drive and steering tractor. To simplify the work, he installed a driving position at each end, which avoided maneuvering at the end of the plot.
Unfortunately this machine was destroyed and, a priori, there is no photo of it.
Good luck to the researchers!
