A strange vehicle in front of a workshop.
For one point, please respond and identify this car.
-
1924 Helica, a similar car appeared at Goodwood in 2003.
-
Not a Helica
-
I believe that is a 1921 Leyat Eolia. Helica relative.
-
Not a Leyat Eolia either

Traction Aérienne, by Joseph Archer. A few were built until 1926
-
That's the one. Different from the Leyat cars it had front wheel steering.
-
How confident are we about this? It is pretty much identical to the Eolia, which looks as though it also had front wheel steering, and the Tracrton Aerienne brochure suggests that they were also selling the Helica - my reading of it is that they were only distributors trying to sell Leyat products and other things, possibly under their own name. But that is only a guess - perhaps someone with better French and better eyesight than mine can decipher it.
-
I agree with you that it looks identical to the Leyat Éolia. I relied on a Traction Aérienne picture in Georgano's encyclopedia.
-
A Traction Aérienne postcard without any mention of Leyat. ???
