« on: October 07, 2020, 06:51:46 AM »
What is this car, and who was the owner/driver responsible?

This looks a bit like the Dick Seaman Delage as modified by Prince Bira; perhaps one of its later incarnations when owned by Rob Walker.
The more I consider the nature of speed, the more mysterious I find it.

How about Tony Rolt's Aitken-Alfa?

There was, at some pre-war point an ERA fitted with a nose cowl like that. The name Dobson comes to mind but....Probably a Maserati....

LOCKED for Willie McCrum. There was indeed an ERA and this is it. Not Arthur Dobson but a well-known Ford dealer.

This is all (well) before my time, but the only Ford dealer who MGHT fit the bill in my limited knowledge would be a Mr Harrison.

That's good enough for me Willie. It's R8B of Earl Howe later uprated to C spec and raced extensively by Cuth Harrison. I think several members of the Harrison family were involved in motor sport and IIRC there used to be a team of 3 in a Zephyr at the Monte.

I picked the front angle for a photo as it was the most difficult to identify. A side view shows that the rear was not altered at all.

Thank you for this photo. In fact my image shows the car before the bodywork was changed!
