The name I had for this car doesn't seem to be what it was called; in fact it had no name..
As The Warlord said it was designed by Peter Stevens as commissioned by Trevor Fiore, who was working for Alpine.
They decided not to go ahead with this mid-engined proposal.

Here are pictures from other angles:

To gain a point, name this proposed car (make and model name please) and who designed it. Thanks

A midengine alpine proposal by Peter Stevens. The rims are a dead giveaway, I could see why you'd hide them

Yes indeed. To complete the Puzzle, do you know the planned model designation for this stillborn Alpine? Now Locked to you.

A480 ?
Yes, Alpine A480 was the designation I was looking for. Another point to you, and it transpires that this puzzle was a repost, which can now be merged with Carnut's original from some time ago.

Rear visibility wasn't Peter Stevens' priority obviously !

I've merged the two puzzles.
I've also added the name "A480" to the title of my original puzzle, but my source didn't include that name and el_monty, in his Reply #23, reckoned that this was not an A480 proposal...
I assume Djetset knows something we didn't!

I can send you my source which says it is A480, but this page is not hard to find the current port title

The pictures of this car came to light when Peter Andreina of Curbside Classic made contact with Peter Stevens, who gave them to him; this was the first time this design had been seen.

In the Curbside Classic article it says: "Peter Stevens is not sure whether this was created at the request of Renault/Alpine, or if Fiore was making a proactive effort based on the presence (and perhaps failure) of the A480."

That does not mean this is an A480 proposal, just that he got the job of designing this Alpine-Renault because of Fiore's work in designing the A480 and he wanted to further his connection with Alpine-Renault by coming up with other designs for them.

So I still haven't seen any definitive proof that this is an A480 design.  Maybe Djetset has some or maybe I should ask him myself, as I have had some contact with him.

the same site had mentined A480 in another alpine article named Curbside Classic: 1971-76 Alpine A310 – Bittersweet Edge. Showing very different Alpine design.
I think that Carnut, you're correct - A480 is the car (below) and the car in both puzzles doesn't have internet published name
