Fully focussed at the wheel of a monoposto.
Who is it? Where and when? With which racer?

It is a Ferrari 375, but not the Thinwall Special. Locked for you for three attempts.

Has this been edited to remove race numbers?  It isn't obvious

If the start number was obvious, you should already have the solution, right?  ;-)

That isn't what I meant.  I consider it is simple courtesy to make it clear when you have edited a picture, particularly for those viewing a puzzle on a smartphone.
Initially I didn't realise it had been doctored and was looking for a 375 without numbers.  Then I realised and asked the question for everybody's benefit, including knewit, who has the puzzle locked to him.

Yes, it is José Froilán González at the British GP 1951 in Silverstone. He finished the race as the winner and knewit finished this puzzle with one point more.
