Yes, it is a Faun built by Auwärter in 1938/39.
But I have a different type designation and which Auwärter was it? Locked. That should be done with five attempts.

Well, I've got my information from Gebhardt's book "Deutsche Omnibusse". The coachbuilder certainly was Gottlob Auwärter. The O 50 was the largest bus chassis in 1938, maybe your identification is a smaller one like O 33 D66?

G. Auwärter is of course correct.
My source, the "Omnibusspiegel", mentions an L 450, but I think you're right. The wheelbase and entrance height indicate a bus chassis. This is where your next point comes around the corner.
