Are you sure your source is right? Because I have no doubt that this bus is a 1930/31 Ford Model AA, there are certain features that are unmistakable, two bar bumper with three oval clamps, radiator shell, bonnet, scuttle mounted petrol tank with centre filler cap, molding along bonnet and scuttle, wheels, headlights and front wings.
I found the puzzle picture in the famous coachwork site, it says 1926, but it doesn't
mention the maker of the chassis.

I know the picture from two sources. In both cases, reference is made to the year of construction 1926, i.e. before the start of production of the Ford AA.

Now I found the puzzle picture on the Ackermann site with this description: “As motorization progressed, Ackermann expanded its range and also manufactured bodies for motor vehicles.
In 1926, Ackermann presented his first, very stylish coach at the IAA motor show in Berlin.
In addition to the closed buses, Ackermann also built open observation cars” what I understand is that they started building busses in 1926, but not that the puzzle bus was built in 1926.

Yes, a DAAG ACO was the basis for a coach built by Ackermann, Wuppertal, in 1926 (To see on your photo). It was presented at the motor show in Berlin and had, among other things, ceiling fans. Ackermann ended its excursion into coach building after a few years, but during this time also produced obseration cars based on the DAAG, see photo.

I still think the puzzle bus is a 1930/31 Ford Model AA. Petrol filler cap on the scuttle, double bar bumper with three oval clamps, radiator shell, headlights, front wings, molding along the bonnet and scuttle and wheels.

Your assumption seems to be correct. I have compared various illustrations of DAAG and Ford AA and the rims in particular are very different. The title of this puzzle will be changed accordingly.
