This one's a bit complicated, with several of the involved parties relaying different stories. To summarize, this car was originally the
1969 MEAN-Alfa, built by Jacques d'Heur for Ron Tauranac (to be driven by Bernard Carlier) and based on a Brabham BT17 chassis. It was later sold to Auto Ricambi and passed through the hands of Michel Paulus and then Daniel Lebacq. Along the way, the Alfa engine was replaced with a Ford GT40 engine, the body was replaced with what you see in this photo, and the car was renamed the "Brabham GT40."
