Now that's an extraordinaires design!
Which coachbuilder designed it? On what basis (manufacturer and type) and when?
There is a point for the correct answer and a "sichel-bee" for the place where this picture was taken.
-
Up to Experts.
-
Büssing?
-
Yes.
-
Is this a 1935-ish Büssing-NAG Trambus designed by Paul Arendt?
-
The chassis is based on developments by Paul Arendt, but I don't know of any connection to the coachbuilder I'm looking for. Besides, the year of construction was later.
-
Getting closer. Büssing-NAG 650 TU 1937 from ÜSTRA Hannover. Working on coachbuilder.
-
Yes, it is a 650 TU, but the year of manufacture still needs adjustment....
-
Are you looking for a pre-war date? Because I found two different sources with pictures that have mid-1930s dates.
-
Yes, I am looking for a pre-war date.
-
1939? And the body by Emmelmann?
-
Earlier and not from Emmelmann.
-
If it's not 1937 and it's not 1939, it must be 1938? Kässbohrer?
-
Neither 1938 nor Kässbohrer.
-
1936?
-
Yes.
-
Komnick, from Elbling?
-
No
-
Coachbuilder from Hannover?
-
No, neither Hannover nor Lower Saxony.
-
Drauz?
-
No
-
Evels, from Münster?
-
No
-
Gaubschat?
-
No
-
Walter Vetter?
-
Unfortunately also not.
-
Ludewig?
-
No. But North Rhine-Westphalia is the right region.
-
Is it Bauer?
-
No
-
Fahrzeugwerke Recklinghausen?
-
No.
-
Köther from Düsseldorf?
-
No.
-
Waggonfabrik Uerdingen?
-
Yes, this Büssing 650 TU was built by Waggonfabrikfabrik Uerdingen in 1936. Here is your next point and a "sichel-bee" waits for the AutoPuzzler who tells us the place where the puzzle photo was taken.
-
Is it Hannover or do you want more specific than that?
-
Hanover, i.e. ÜSTRA, is quite clear. For a bee, it should be a bit more precise, the photo point is quite easy to locate, it looks almost the same there today, or again today.
-
Is that Marktkirche?
-
There is no church in the picture but a railing...Go east from the Marktkirche.
-
There is a railing like that where Schiffgraben goes under the railroad track. Google also tells me that there is a Kentucky Fried Chicken in Hannover, which I find very amusing.

Hanover is the capital of Lower Saxony and therefore very cosmopolitan...
The picture was taken a little further north, at the southern subway next to the main station. But it's hard to recognise today, so you also get a well-deserved "sichel-bee."
