SOLVED: si_253 - Sigma Grand Prix - 1969
« on: April 19, 2022, 06:44:08 PM »
This seems to be a very special racer?
What is its name? Which people were involved in the project? What was the point of this project? Who was the coachbuilder? Who built the powertrain? When did the presentation take place? For all questions there is a whole point.

Partly correct, but not entirely.

Name:               Something is still missing here.

People Involved: Of course the guys from pininfarina were involved.
But in the development of this project various specialist lights were involved.
The idea was born at a trade journal, this resulted in a working group with five members.
At least three should be mentioned here, for all five there is still a 'siche-bee'.

Purpose:           What exactly should security be increased for?

Coachbuilder:    Yes, it is Pininfarina

Powertrain:       Yes, Ferrari

Presentation:     Geneva Salon 1969

Locked for you.

Yes it was the Automobil Revue from Bern, CH. Now only the other gaps need to be filled.

Name: No. Sigma is a part of the name, supplemented by the area of application of this safety vehicle.
I asked for involved people, not for invilved factories.
Next try!

@ hermanoto: sorry for you, but Rusty Chrome was first with a correct answer.
@ Rusty, your answer is correct and has sufficient content because with #2 I increased the number of the working group members to three. Other members were Robert Braunschweig, Editor-in-Chief of 'Automobil Revue' and Michael Henderson, racing doctor and trade book author.
The innovations of this development vehicle included among others foamed safety tanks, an automatic fire extinguishing system, helmet belts, telescopic steering column and electrical system with self-triggering inertia switch. Much of this is taken for granted in racing cars today
Rusty, this is your next point, congratulation

When I first saw your post I (obviously mistakenly) thought you were looking for all the other companies which co-operated with Pininfarina in this concept (I'm thinking particularly of numbers 4, 5, 6 and 8 in the below extract):

@ Carnut: Thank you for these detailed informations. My first question was perhaps not precise enough, but with reply #2 everything should have become clear.

...then the answer would probably have turned into a novel. I found it fascinating enough what luminaries were involved in the project.
