This is a very special vehicle, but typical for the post-war situation in Germany.

Berge und rettungfahrzeug, Alpine recovery vehicle. Suspensions so hard that couldn't be used to transport
human casualties. Only used to tow private cars and light commercial vehicles.
Opel Blitz 1942, in the Fuerwehr museum in Fulda.

'Berge- und Rettungsfahrzeug' has nothing to do with the Alps and mountains, this only means 'recovery- and emergency-vehicle'..

Locked for you. You understood nearly complete what it is. Did you visit the museum?
But one or two questions are still open: What do you mean by "Alpine recovery vehicle"? Data of the original vehicle: Manufactorer and type, what kind of fire-truck? When and why did the conversion to "BRF" take place?

Let's try again and forget the Alps.
Started life as an Opel Blitz LF 15 water pump in June 1944 in Fulda.
Out of service at the end of the war.
Rebuilt in the early fifties as a BRF recovery vehicle and used until december 1971, with a brief use as a carnival vehicle. Sold out of service and rediscovered for sale in 2001 on a old car magazine.
Restored totally with part wood part metal parts and now in the Feuerwehr museum in Fulda.
Hope this is a better effort..

Hiawatha, this is a nearly complete effoert. Only the date changing from LF15 to BRF is missing: 1959. The reason for the conversion was the increasing number of road accidents and the need for technology to recover crashed vehicles. One more point for you.
