this was a one-off, but the builder built at least one and maybe two cars (it is difficult to judge whether his 2nd car is a development of the puzzle car or a different car)

Yes, this is the first car put together by Babich. Details are sketchy. It is possible that he modified this car before building the famous Leningrad

No Babich built aat least one car prior to the Leningrad. You can find my article on that on Undiscovered Classics in English and in Russian at a lot of places :) Now this one is either the basic version of that 2nd car or a separate, even earlier design.
