FrontMan, you get a lock! This is a Humber (I will need you to tell me the model) and the date is not correct but it is very close. With the correct year you will also easily find out the event.

After more than a week with no further activity from FrontMan, I'm afraid I have to declare the lock expired. This will now be a very easy point for whoever gets there first!

It's the Beeston Humber 30hp, which won the 1907 Isle of Man Tourist Trophy heavy touring class. It was driven by G.P. Mills. I think I recall that to simulate a real touring car of the time, a minimum frontal area was specified and the rectangular thing behind the driver's seat was to make up the shortfall in frontal area of the car itself. Thanks, and it was good to have a car from earlier times after all those modern and (to me) uninteresting blobs of colour!
However, as I'm creeping towards being promoted again, my feelings about points are a bit mixed.
