Lister

That was quick (again!)..
Would you like to enlarge on that answer though because it's not enough for the point?

Should this be locked? I fear it might be unsporting of me to jump in with the right answer.
The more I consider the nature of speed, the more mysterious I find it.

Lister Jaguar Flat Iron 1955

That's the car, yes.
It has quite an illustrious history and is about to be auctioned.
Won't be cheap...!

Thanks Lavrakas.
I didn't actually lock it but asked norberthanke a specific question so I suppose it was an implied lock.
However, although he did incredibly well to identify it as a Lister straight off he didn't give the full answer and could have lost the point because of that.  It's important to give all the information if you've identified the right make/car rather than if you're posting a guess.

However, although I've given norberthanke a point because he's answered the questions I asked, I actually meant to ask more questions on the original post, wanting an answer to all of them for the point, but I forgot..
So what I'll do is offer another point to the first to answer:

- Who designed the car?
- Who built the body?

Thom Lucas and Maurice Gomm.

The original HCH 736 with a Bristol engine was built in 1955.  When the car was destroyed in a crash, the chassis number BHL 5 and registration number HCH 736 were re-used (a tax dodge to avoid paying purchase tax) for a totally new Jaguar powered car built in 1957  by Tom Kyffin and Dick Walsh with a body by Maurice Gomm.  It was raced by Bruce Halford for Equipe Devone in 1958 and then by Jim Clark, and occasionally Jimmy Blumer,  in 1959 for the Border Reivers team.  Neither Robert Edwards in  "Archie and the Listers" or Doug Nye in "Powered by Jaguar" make any mention of Thomas Lucas being involved.
I think this should be described as a 1957 Lister-Jaguar with "Flat-iron" body by Maurice Gomm.
