Formula SENA Eco, Colombia
Carro Electrico Delta Z.E.

Electric Car DELTA Z.E.
It is the first 100% electric racing vehicle designed and assembled entirely in the region. Aerodynamic vehicle, 340 kilos in weight, 3.8 meters in length.

Pereira, November 6, 2013.- In the Ciudad Victoria civic plaza of this capital, the presentation of the electric single-seater vehicle built during the last year at the SENA Design Center in Dosquebradas was made.

This is the team DELTA Z.E. (Delta means several regional ones: ZE of English: Zero Emission) that make up apprentices and instructors of the regional ones of Caldas, Quindío and Risaralda who successfully completed the process of design of power system and brakes, structural calculations for construction of the chassis, modeling of parts for the bodywork, assembly of the rims, ailerons, batteries, chair and cockpit of the pilot, engine, electrical and electronic circuits, and other tests of winds, force and rolling.
As explained by Andrés Aurelio Alarcón Tique, deputy director of the Center of Design and Industrial Technological Innovation of the Santa Isabel de Dosquebradas neighborhood, all the pieces were designed and produced in the Training Center, which gives the category of SENA Product and an added value to the commitment of the institution by involving in the process apprentices of several training programs such as: industrial product design, mechanical systems design, electronics, electricity, automotive mechanics, confection and welding.
The commitment is to represent the Coffee Axis in the great Formula SENA Eco car competition that will take place on November 17th at the Tocancipá Autodrome (Cundinamarca) in which 24 regionals from the country will meet with 10 cars in total, to offer a great unprecedented automotive and technological event, with vehicles driven by professional pilots hired by SENA's General Directorate.
The manager or technical director of the Escudería, Rodolfo Antonio Ramírez Montoya, explained that the vehicle weighs approximately 340 kilos without a pilot and measures 3.80 meters long. "One of the greatest satisfactions is to see the apprentices contributing in this process, that is very motivating, that is the raison d'etre of this, they asking themselves to let them work and wanting to give is the best," added Ramirez Montoya.
Although the Nissan made the launch a few days ago of the fastest electric it is expected that these SENA Product vehicles develop on the runway up to 130 kilometers per hour.
"We are waiting for a good presentation in Tocancipá," said apprentice Andrés Felipe Loaiza, a technologist in Mechatronics Automation at the Design Center. "What I learned in electronic and electrical matters is a wonderful, unique experience," said the young man.
