I also read the 2005 figure when I found the image but I'm skeptical. The 1st gen Matrix was presented in 2002 as a 2003 MY car, and the 2nd gen in late 2007 as a 2009 MY car. In 2005 there was just a facelift so it doesn't sound very logical that they would propose a wholly different design for that year. I think it makes sense for an early mock-up like this to exist four years earlier than the actual introduction of the car, but seven years seems a bit too much.
