Must be Maurice Gatsonides and a Gatso, but it's not one of the cars I have seen before and I thought they were all quite well documented...

The car must be the Gatso 4000 roadster with a hardtop mounted. The man in front however isn't Gatsonides I believe, although the caption in the photo claims it is him. Gatsonides is from former Dutch-Indonesia and this guy looks more caucasian.

I think it's a Gatso modified in coupé ,and the man perhaps Albert Ilsken , his team-mate at the Monte Carlo rally ?

There is a nice blog about this car, nicknamed Molshoop (molehill), driven by Klaas Bernaards, with many more pictures and links. Just google for the license plate N-48769 and the driver's name.

As far as I know the 'Molshoop' is a different car, see attachment. Look for example at the back. And the man in the pic is not Ilsken to my judgment.

So in fact the puzzle has not quite been solved despite Barret's point (no offense !) - we don't who the man on the photo is and we are not sure which type of Gatso it is ..))

Right you are, but it is not a roadster with hardtop either as you suggested. Look at the door cutouts.

In short, it is a coupe (not Fastback ) that must be an unknown Gatso. The legend of the photo was Maurice Gatsonides in the foreground ! :)
