Crikey! That was quick. You are absolutely correct and the point is yours. A rather obscure car, self-built in the early days of FJ racing in the USA before the British makers caught on. It is entitled DKW Special on programme entry lists, but was known as the Crocus by family and I think this was the correct name.

You and me both. I wish I could find out more, but the internet is not being helpful. The source of these images is fairly well-known, but unfortunately there are no more details.
