I agree with you, the car looks much later than 1961.

John Britnell was very active in building cars - I doubt he built 6 like the puzzle car, more likely he built 6 different cars over a number of years. I was wrong in thinking it was a clubmans formula car, and I was searching for completely the wrong thing!

It conforms to the 750MC classes. You're right about the Reliant engine which is now almost universal in that club because the old Austin 7 engines are now too fragile to tune to increase power. Still looks way too modern so I reckon it's either a misprint and should be 1971, or it has been rebodied in order to remain competitive.
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

John Britnell lives within a mile of me and I still see him occasionally. His health doesn't permit him to build racing cars any more, but I'm sure I can ask him anything you need to know about those he did build!
Opinionated but sometimes wrong

Yes, it's a Britnell 750 sport. My source claims it to be from 1961, but I agree that it looks from a later date. If Allan speaks to John Britnell some day, we could have it verified. Thank you for all your input !

The point goes to oko94, well done sir.
