Inspired by Italian designs by Pininfarina, the car pictured is one of the basic designs for GM's B-body platform released in the mid 1970s, e.g. Buick LeSabre (5th generation) and Chevrolet Caprice (3rd generation).
GM design chief Bill Mitchell was responsible for the design.
