Solved: Wendax 1846 - Bodykit for VW Beetle by Blum
« on: February 13, 2016, 01:50:48 AM »
Base car is obvious, but who supplied the conversion kit?

For one point, please respond and identify this car by naming the base and the kit manufacturer.

Obviously an altered VW, but I wouldn't call it customized, because it was planned to manufacture these parts in series production.

I’ve known of the puzzle VW ever since you posted it back in 2016, but frustratingly couldn’t find the German book it was featured in. I’ve now found that book, so can confirm that this is a bodykit for the Type 1 (Kafer, Beetle, etc.) developed by a Herr Blum as a 270 DM upgrade to a standard Type 1 in  the early 1970s, using VW 411 lights. More pictures to follow shortly
A car is for life, not just for Christmas.
