Peerless GT phase 2 of 1958 or 59?
The more I consider the nature of speed, the more mysterious I find it.

If only life were so simple!
Don't forget this is AutoPuzzles, where things are rarely what they seem to be.
It's a Peerless body of course, but that's where the connection ends, although Peerless does form part of the car's name because of the body.

Yes indeed. A peerless body was put on to an Austin-Healey 3000 chassis in 1959. This presumably was it. Why they did it I don't know.

Yes, you're right so far.
The car does have a name though and its name reflects the reason why they did it!  I need the full name for the point.
Locked for you to look into further.

The only name I've found for it is the "Austin-Healey Peerless GT2 Le Mans Special Sports", not to be confused with the Peerless Austin-Healey which you had as a puzzle a few years back.

That's right, yes.
It was built by Ausstin-Healey to race at Le Mans in 1959 (apparently!)

I suspect that would be news to Donald Healey. Interestingly the engine size is quoted as 2.2-litre which is the same as the usual Triumph TR unit fitted to Peerless cars.
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

Yes, I agree.  It all looked a bit suspicious to me and I'd intended to do a bit more research but didn't get around to it..

I'll have to look into it!

Have a look at your puzzle NEH4153. Curiouser and curiouser. Two different cars both claiming to be a hybrid of similar vehicles.

The car in my earlier puzzle is a genuine car; it was featured in one of the classic mags.
But as for this one...  I can't even find the original website where I got the picture and story about it being built by Austin-Healey for Le Mans from!
I think it's a load of rubbish actually and sorry for posting claptrap on AutoPuzzles; unless someone can prove otherwise to me!
Seems like a standard Peerless with 2.2 litre Triumph engine to me.
