The Car is a Iran Khodro Arisun Pickup.
Descendant of Peugeot 405, and Peugeot 405 RD for the chassis and (rwd)drivetrain?

You are right! It is the Arisun.
Just to get the result I was aiming for (::)), could you please tell me what is the original, much older car that the Peugeot RD descended from. Locked of course.

Yes, the Paykan. I was actually aiming for the Rootes Arrow, AKA Hillman Hunter, Dodge Husky, etc. , but in truth, the Paykan is probably its best-known incarnation. The Arisun still uses a version of its chassis and engine, making it its last remaining descendant still available 50 years after its introduction. The bodywork of the front half of the car is of course a variation of the Peugeot 405.
