To gain a point, please give me the FULL precise make and model name of this car, and remember, this is AutoPuzzles ;)
-
I am astonished that no Rookies tried to name this car, so up to the Experts, and remember please, I need the full correct make and model name of this car to be awarded a point.

similar to Audi

The obvious answer would be an Audi 80 from the late 70s.
However that would probably be to easy, so is it a copy made in another country and sold with a local name?

South Africa

It's an Audi, but not an 80, and not made in Germany (and not South Africa either!)..

Audi 80 sold in the USA as the Audi Fox

No, it's not an Audi 80, so not a Fox either.

Audi 100(C1) by FAW from China?

Audi 100(C1) by FAW from China?
No, I think FAW's first Audi 100-based model was built around the C3 third generation version.
-
Yes, it's clearly an Audi 100 from about 1974/5 after they squared off the front.
Is it Chinese, Hongqi maybe?

Yes, it is a first-generation Audi 100, but not by Hong Qi. Audi 100 does form part of the name of this car however, so now Locked to you for your next reply.

Thanks.
Seems this is the VW Audi 100CD, made in Nigeria. Strange how nothing is mentioned about this car on any of the websites detailing the history of the Audi 100 C1!:

Well done Carnut, that's exactly the car I was looking for. Another point to you.
As a keen car brochure collecting kid, I remember writing to Volkswagen Nigeria for some literature, and they sent me a catalogue on the VW Audi 100CD that they assembled, as well as the locally-built Beetle. I've therefore know about this car for some years, but totally forgot about its existence until I re-discovered it recently whilst researching an article I was writing for the 50th anniversary of the Audi 100.
I just love obscurities like this, and it's interesting that VW is the make, and Audi 100CD is the model!

I believe the model was made in 1975; I was actually working in Lagos for the first few months of 1975 but I can't say I remember this car at all. The only thing I remember about the cars there was the absolutely appalling standard of the driving. It was so dangerous that Hertz, Avis and everybody else would only hire you a car and a driver. There was no way they would let you drive!

Interesting. I think appalling driving standards apply to most African nations from what I've experienced, which might help to explain why strong, well-engineered, sturdy and large Peugeot and Mercedes-Benz sedans have always been so popular there, although the really safe cars made by Saab and Volvo would perhaps have been more suitable. As for the Audi...
