Is its name the 'Something something' special, where the somethings are the builder's names?

Not exactly that, but the name consists of 3 letters which could well be the initials of either one or three builders.

It's 1961 and we are beach racing in Tahuna near Nelson, New Zealand. One W.Dorrell is about to come 3rd in this car, known as the ACF III. Unfortunately the website has now developed a fault making further information rather difficult .....

Very well solved TT. You've provided all I wanted to know and the point is yours.

I searched the net for more information on this car, but found absolutely nothing. I assume that it's yet another nicely built Australasian special, probably powered by a fairly mundane motor.
