This looks like a much modified Frazer Nash monoposto with alarmingly low ground clearance and, for some reason, a Hampton radiator grille. Possibly an AC engine.
The more I consider the nature of speed, the more mysterious I find it.

Not a Frazer Nash chassis but it does have some common DNA
AC engine  - yes

The 1925 Cognac Special, named after the owner Mr COhen, GN chassis and AC engine.
The more I consider the nature of speed, the more mysterious I find it.

I'm astonsihed that this hasn't been a puzzle in the last 18 years.
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

I'd agree with that but feel it lacks something if we don't name its long term owner/driver.
It's unusual, but can I offer a point to whoever can name that man and another if you can tell us his final connection with Freddie Giles.
Opinionated but sometimes wrong

For your edification - Ron Footitt owned and raced this car for many years and after he died it was owned by Freddie Giles.  It is rumoured that Giles took Footitt's ashes with him when he raced at Oulton Park and spread the ashes behind him as a tribute to the long-term owner.
