Exactly.
I can only think he needed to rebody the car as it was badly accident-damaged or something like that, and in the days when it was done it wasn't as important to do it in its orginal style as it would be today.

Frua's beautiful body was not destroyed, it was mounted on a Triumph chassis. In 2000 it was recovered and mounted on a Maserati chassis, chassis # 1190 from Allemano. Here's what it looked like ...
