I thought it was one of those weird "race cars" from 1960s USSR, based on a ZIL or something... ;D What do I know?

Corvette based ?

Is this Bill Boyd's Miller Corvette ?

I think this may be the same car. Second row #49.

I only read your comment, 'Is this Bill Boyd's Miller Corvette ?' and answered with 'no'
Checking the picture carefully, which I've found on the net now too, I can confirm for sure, that #49-car is the same as the puzzle car. But it is not 'Boyd's Miller Corvette'

I fear, the caption to your picture may bear a mistake with Boyd's Miller Corvette?

Very strange too, my source says, that the car was finished in 1957. You photo is from an event in 1956..!?!?

The website where I found the photo identified the car as a "special", but later in the text it mentioned Boyd's car and I hoped it would be the same car. Which is why I used a laughing emoji. Yet again I jumped to conclusions.  It is always possible the website was incorrect in dating the photo. Anyway, I will continue to research.

I tried to modify my previous comment, shortly after I've found the same picture as you on the net;
Here once again my corrected answer:

I found the image you used, but it didn't identify the car. I've never heard of this driver - the puzzle image shows it on a dragstrip racing against a midget sprint car.
