What is this? Where was it made and what was unique about the factory? One well earned point for the answers.

Did they build cars before WWI?

nicanary

I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

Johno

The earliest record I have is 1920, sorry not and Argyll.

1923 A.B.C. 12 h.p. Sporting Light Car, with a two cylinder air-cooled engine?

Johno

Sorry, not an A.B.C 12hp.

nicanary

Was the factory the infamous "Jam Factory" in Maidenhead ?
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

Johno

Sorry no, not a boiled fruit in sight.

Galloway Model De Luxe. Made in a factory staffed mainly by women.

(Thanks to a timely post by pnegyesi!)

The factory was originally an aero engine plant, in Tongland, Kircudbrightshire. It was owned by Arrol-Johnston.

Correct.  the factory was led by Dorothée Pullinger, the daughter of Arrol-Johnston manager Thomas Charles Pullinger,
the company provided training courses and apprenticeships for local women.
The factory had its own hockey team, swimming pool and tennis courts. I believe there are quite a few still running about at well. One point for you.
