Sorry for the poor photo. Cheap scanner and altering the size meant it's pixillated. What was this car called? - the chassis/engine constituents are the clue.

Not a 4-litre but there is some Bentley in there.

No. Much older.

Was it registered as a Bentley, and if so, a 4 1/4 Derby product?

I don't know what the car was registered as, but from the details available I would say it was very likely. However, it's not a Derby product.

....so, if it's much older than a Mallalieu, and not Derby-built, then it's got W.O. bits. 6 1/2 Litre ?

Yes. Part of the car is a Cricklewood Bentley. Not a 6 1/2 litre.

8 Litre?

Yes. A major component of the car was from an 8-litre Bentley.

I'll guess at the chassis and axles as the 8 litre bits, built up a while after the R.-R. takeover.  "The Harem Saloon", or its descendant, has been on sale in recent times. Is this the name you seek?

Yes, it's the chassis which is Bentley. It's not the car you mention however.

At last!....It's the B.D.M., built by Brian Morgan on a Bentley base, but with a Duesenberg engine.

Well found. You are absolutely correct - I know nothing much aboiut the car, but it was for sale in the classified section of Motor Sport magazine.

A well-earned point.
