I predict a hot time for Red Bull and McLaren at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve this weekend. Look for a repeat of Turkey, with a RB sitting on pole and a McLaren very close behind. McLaren should be very competitive with their straight line speed advantage and will pressure the Bulls as the race winds down, just as they did in Turkey. I suspect that Webber will be very keen to maintain his lead in the WDC race and put his stamp on the race.

Finishing order?

Excellent!  In my 64.5 years of experience, long range forecasts are wrong 100% of the time. Look for bright, sunny skies in Montreal this weekend!   :P

I am SO glad I cancelled my plans to go this year. Montreal in the rain would be even worse than Montreal in the sunshine! I dislike the viewing experience at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve very much. And besides, you get to see SO much more on TV, and save a coupla grand on travel, tickets and accommodations in the process.

That being said, rain makes the racing very exciting. Hence my call for sprinklers at every corner!    ;D

 8)  I found that, Montreal, like any race, to get the best enjoyment... set up the PVR and head for the track.  Enjoy the moment and the crowds, and the booths, and the shows, and the race.  Then go back home and see what you missed.

My seat was inside the hairpin.  When Kubica crashed it was all so fast that you did not even know that there was an accident, except for the crumpled heap down at the end.

A little FM radio with the headset mounted underneath a pair of ear defenders, combined with the big screen, kept you informed with what was happening on other parts of the track.

Unless you went for a ride in the Ferris wheel, it was very hard to see a lot of the track, mainly because it is so flat.

Then there was the nightlife of Montreal.  Taking a stroll down Ferrari row, where is appeared as though every Ferrari in North America was there to be seen.

And Montreal itself, and Catherine st, any time of the year.  The Jazz festival, the Just For Laughs festival and many many other events.

So there is much to see and much to do.  I also have the extra benefit of having relatives in the "downtown" area which helps reduce the costs.

Excellent advice, Ted!

I must have been looking at you while you were looking at me, because I was seated OUTSIDE L'Epingle!

The cost of accommodations was what made us decide not to attend this year. We paid up to stay in the city center in Indy last time and the hoopla and nightlife WAS something to see. But the good merchants of Montreal know a good thing when they see it and they were requiring as much as a 5 - 7 night minimum for the most desirable locations.  :yuck:

I still think Webber is going to be keen to stamp his authority on the WDC chase this weekend. But I guess we will have to wait and see, won't we?   ;D

Mclaren for the constructors.  Their drivers have the inside edge on the title.

Ah, there's a long way to go before we starting crowning victors. "There's many a slip twixt the cup and the lip," my old Irish grandmother used to say.

Baron Makeashitload is rather interested in seeing his team rise to the top. I wouldn't count out Red Bull just yet. However, their lack of reliability in various areas, like brakes and transmissions, may yet prove to be their undoing.

At least this season has some on-track doings that make for interesting viewing. And thank God for that!

Nobody will outdevelop Mclaren from this point in a season without track testing time.

Valencia should fit the Red Bull better
