Stephen M

When my wife and I are driving somewhere and run out of things to talk about, the navigator will usually scan the headlines from their smartphone. Conversation went something like this:

Laura J: "Says here F1 has asked Lewis Hamilton to stop sharing pit photos with fans on social media"

Stephen M: "Why on earth would a fan-supported enterprise want to limit their online exposure and access to their stars?"

Laura J: "Probably because BERNIE AIN'T GETTING PAID"

Yep, that's exactly it:

Ultra

I saw this also.

Can't really stand the F1 circus anymore and I look forward to their self destructing.

Good for Lewis!
Bernie must be one of my least-favourite people of all time, though I'm not sure  he cares...!
Interests in life:  Cars, cars, cars - oh and ..er..cars

nicanary

F1M have become like the Hollywood studios in the golden age of the screen. They have the drivers all wrapped up in cotton wool and all appearances have to be in conjunction with a PR man and an approved photographer.

I'm waiting for "arranged marriages" next. These poor (morally, not financially) guys have no life of their own, they've signed it away to the God Mammon. It's a terribly sad state of affairs, and just sums up F1 as it now is. It's all very well blaming Bernie (and I do) but once big business is in control, this is what happens.

To think that once upon a time, F1 was just a series of individually-organised races that coincidentally counted towards a championship. Each win was more important than the outcome at the end of the year.
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia
