I'm watching the Abu Dhabi GP - I just learned something. One car had a flashing red light at the rear, which apparently means its electric drive boost is at a low ebb. This tells a following driver that he's got a chance to overtake.
I'm simply lost for words. Talk about dumbing-down of a sport. Why not have a LED readout on the back, like those motorway signs, so that the team can give following competitors some other useful information - "my tyres are worn" or "my brakes are playing up".
Presumably the light has been forced on everyone in order to increase safety , the following car needs to know if the car ahead is in trouble. I don't know, Can't think of another plausible explanation. Next thing they'll be stopping the race if one car has a problem in case the poor lad cries about it not being fair.
I give up.
