BTCC From Rockingham.
« on: February 07, 2010, 01:00:29 PM »
BTCC is on BBC America every Saturday at 1 pm EST. This week (yesterday) the race was from Rockingham, which looks a lot like a NASCAR oval with an infield road course section.

Anyhoo, BTCC runs three shortish races every day. The driver leading the series is Colin Tukington, but the runner up is Fabrizio Giovinardi and he is not far behind. In the third race, they are together on the track when Turkington gets tapped from behind by another driver. They go three wide into a corner that is too small for two, Turkington goes sideways, Giovinardi dives under the spinning Turkington, who rights his ship and pushed Giovinardi off into the weeds.

One of the wildest, most exciting moments I have ever witnessed. In fact, I saved it so I can watch it again. And again!! :drive:

If you can find a re-run of it, tape it, DVR it or watch it live. Great stuff!    :yeah:

Me either, what with the funny accents, "Coronation Street" in heavy rotation, etc... ;)

It's on Speed Channel. I was hoping Chilton could hang on for the win in the third race, but I don't think the Focus is ready for that. Even so, 3rd was a step in the right direction.
I make poor decisions, but I have a good time.

I didn't know that, Dan.  Thanks.

The Focus has not been very competitive this year - so far.

One of the things I like about BTCC is that it mixes both fwd and rwd cars in the same field. The rwd cars are far superior getting traction off the starting line, but the fwd cars are less likely to get turned around if they get a tap on the back bumper going in to a turn. The level of competition is simply awesome and the commentators are quite fun as well. Interesting to see Chevrolets running near the front as well.
