Interesting - it is according to the Bugatti Trust's records; chassis 49151, registered SI-DV 49 in Germany.

Hmm.....yes I've just checked the Bugatti Trust's records and you are correct.
I had picked the image off what I assumed was a reliable source on the 'net where it was posted as a body by Keibl.
Normally the information on Bugattis should be reliable as there is so much information available and I didn't think to check.
What I'm going to do then Trommel is to give you one point for the correct identification and another point for pointing out my error.

Well I didn't question it originally..... :-\
Could it originally have had an Erdmann & Rossi body and was later rebodied by Keibl?

Owner: W. Kuchel (D), since 1974

Former owners: Fr. Schuh (A), Fr. Prinz (A)

I have a picture showing the Keibl badge somewhere, I'll search.

Joao and Bentleybob - it would be great coup if we could establish this as a Keibl body.

I can now add a third vote for Keibl.  Just found the car on what I consider
an excellent source.  Probably same source as Joao and Bentleybob.
Cheers
Bill

Quick, alert the Bentley Trust.  They might be wrong!

Interesting. Found on the internet?

I've also found reference to a T46 bodied by Ferdinand Keibl, but it could be a typo. There is a T49 roadster, also without running boards, which seems to be unambiguously attributed to Erdmann & Rossi (chassis 49424).

The Bugatti Register makes mention that the car in question appeared at Schloss Bensberg Classics 2009, but that car is actually chassis 49377, bodied by Gangloff:

The Gangloff is very similar, but the doors are hinged differently.  All four doors on the puzzle car open from the front.  On the Gangloff, they open from the rear.

It looks as though this one is yet to be solved.
Admins - advice required - should I remove it from the Solved section and reinsert it in the Pros?

No, I don't think it should be a puzzle in the Pro's again as all the possible answers seem to have been mentioned already but you are looking for confirmation of which one is correct.
In those circumstances you could change the heading to include the different options with question marks and hope someone can come up with the correct answer, but the trouble is leaving it then in the Solved section it will just get lost and forgotten as it passes down the pages.
I could move it to the Pro's and Feature Writers if you prefer so it remains 'alive'?
