Can members of Autopuzzles do what the compiler of the book I took this picture from, was unable to do?
-   Identifying the car’s chassis
-   Identifying the coachbuilders name.

I don’t know the answer myself, so it has no point asking me questions about it.
Only information I can add is that the picture was taken during the 1930 edition of the Concorso d’eleganza Villa d’Este.

The numberplate comment on the original seems worth considering and it's a UK-style location for plate and rear lamp (Offside of an RHD car) though plates there were usually square with the number as two lines.
Having said that, I don't recognise it as a UK make, but so what?

Hi everybody, I'm pretty sure that's an italian plate, issued between 1926 and 1928.   At that time many italian cars carried the plate on the right side because since about 1925 (I'm not sure about the date), they drove on the left.
The rear plates of that period were caracterized by the number followed by the province letters, as front plates did untill 1985.  Since 1928 we had rectangular plates with province letters followed by numbers on two lines.
I post a picture of that kind of plates.
It seems that picture plate is from Turin (TO), and I guess it is a Fiat, perhaps a 525 or 522 coupè.
