No, that would have been a six-cylinder anyway.

I thought the 260D had an OM 138, four-cylinder, 2545 cc engine ?

Anyway, I'm running out of pre-war, 4-cylinder Mercedes cars. I assume it's not a 130H, 150H or a 170H as it's obviously front-engined. Is it based on a prototype chassis ?

You are right about the 260 D being a four-cylinder.

The puzzle car was not a prototype, although not many were built.

This type 200 has the same vertical cooler mask, wheels and not the "standard" Geländesport bodywork.
On the other hand the windscreen is different.

However you told us it is not a type 200... :P

Is there a connection to the Reichspost, who also sent their teams to those events?

It doesn't have a Reichspost number plate.

The bodywork looks like the cars that raced the "2000km durch Deutschland" in 1934?

Now I am sure, that I found it - it was on my HDD :)

Seems to be a 1933 car that also drove there in 1934 - the current works cars in 1934 were the new 130H race coupés.

In 1933 those cars were called Typ 200 LS (= Leichter Sportwagen)

Is that the name you were looking for?

Yes, that is the right event.

No, it is not a 200 of any kind.

According to the "Mercedes-Benz 1886-1986" book, it's a 1934-1936 Mercedes-Benz 150 V (W130 II). Same engine as a 150 H. 36 made.

Yes, surely one of the least known Mercedes-Benz models.

Which also have and which I used - I should have looked some pages further... :)

Do you have proof it is really a 150V?
I have to admit I can not distinguish both - the puzzle car lacks the spade of the 150H on the co-driver´s side.

Comparing the pictures I could find I think the best way to distinguish the two cars is to look at the chrome strip at their side. The one on the 200 LS starts to drop immediately behind the engine bay while the one on the 150 V keeps its level well behind the windscreen to drop then. Furthermore the 200 LS seems to have a small vent in front of the door which the 150 V hasn't (although I must admit that I haven't seen a left-side picture of the 150 V).

Accepted :)

Sorry for being a bit of a nuisance, but I am still a bit frustrated that I did not search through the book just a little bit further :)

No problem, I hadn't noticed the close similarity to the 200 LS before and was about to post some pictures of it as 150 V's.
