As already said, 'bitubo' might rather be the original name by Innocenti. It is, after all, an Italian term and not a German one.
At NSU, the little racer was given a different designation.
But I don't have the time or the inclination to have a long correspondence because of this little thing. Here is your point.
Ein Henschel zieht am Berg und ein Mercedes
an den Türen. (and an attempt of a translation):
A Henschel in rushing up the hill, wheras in a Mercedes wind is rushing through the doors. c/o norberthanke

Thank you, and you are absolutely right, 'bitubo' is the Italian original designation, I also found in German motorcycle sites as description of the NSU-Lambretta.
If it has got a special German name by NSU, of course, it's necessary to go on searching. I wanted only note, that I wouldn't be able to search for any nicknames, that can be also used for several other motorcycles

Bitubo means twin exhaust.
