Looks like british gentelmens cycle-sports car. probably self build and an one off.

I have no idea. In a way I wish I'd never found this image, because I can find nothing about this car on the internet. I only know the name of it, and it's not the Curlew.

I believe it is named after the builder.

Yes. I'm almost certain this was a one-off. Here's a clue - he was possibly at university at the time.

The location looks like one of the dead airfields near Cambridge, but it's not Gransden Lodge which CUAC used in the 1940s. Perhaps it's the even more obscure Bedwell Hay?

I don't know the exact location but let's just say that it is very likely to be in that region.

After a bit more internet bashing I can say the photo is at Bedwell Hey, taken at a CUAC speed trial practice on 11 June 1950 and it's identified as The Prime Special

I admit I know nothing more about the car, although the size of the wheels suggests an Austin 7 base.
