Monty400 - Tiny Footprint: the Sequel - SOLVED
« on: February 05, 2019, 10:14:41 AM »
Fellow Autopuzzlers, I celebrate my 400th puzzle post with a new collection of small electric cars. Here you have sixteen of them, for a point each, please tell me their names and what country they are from. (NOTE: Some are the product of a collaboration between two or more countries, but I'm sure we'll work it out. Also, there is one country for which there is more than one car)
Enjoy.

Greetings Monty! Congrats on the 400, Too many puzzles I could ever comprehend...

Anyways, M is the Mikro MM1, an electric ‘Micro Supercar’ startup out of Ireland. Looks like someone tried to scrunch a Lamborghini together and tried putting it in their pocket!

Thanks, though 400 is not that many! Some of the guys around here are well into the thousands!  :o
I know you meant to say O instead of M, and indeed it is the Mikro MM1. Mikro Automotive is actually based in Greysteel in Northern Ireland, so it is Irish but also from the UK.

Is E the Guangdong Lvtong LT-S2.DB from China? Not too sure about this one as there are a handful of Chinese electric microcars that basically look the same!

i Microcab H4 by John Jostins from Coventry University RDM Automotive 2005 UK
C Mooville 3ai Moduleo by AAA Industries France
D HU-GO Single-Seater Ultra-Light Electric Vehicle by Prof. Engin Tanık and Prof. Volkan Parlaktaş of Automotive Engineering Department of Hacettepe University 2012 Ankara, Turkey

Three points for Oguerrerob!
- The Microcab H4 is a fuel cell car that can accommodate wheelchair users and was developed and built in the UK by an entity called Microcab Consortium, which includes RDM Group, Delta Motorsport, Intelligent Energy and my alma mater, Coventry University. It was first presented in prototype form (the unit shown in the puzzle picture) in 2005; since then a number of units have been made, for example for use by Royal Mail and as internal transportation at Birmingham University campus.
- The 3ai Modul'eo or Moduléo (sources vary) was shown at the 2011 Geneva show, where I took the puzzle picture. 3ai was the marque created by Assistance Aéronautique Automobile (AAA) Industries to showcase this vehicle, which is a design proposal for a car that can stretch to offer ample space for two rows of seats, and contract for parking. (The Mooville is another electric vehicle also shown in Geneva 2011, which I puzzled a couple of years ago)
- There little more I can add about the HU-GO (or HuGo, again sources vary)

BTW this means that there are two cars from the UK, but that wasn't the country I was referring to when I said there was more than one car for one of them. I had overlooked this because, mistakenly, I had the Mikro MM1 as from the Republic of Ireland.

You've touched on a bit of a specialist subject of mine here; microcars, so here goes with what I think I know:

A: Share2Drive SVEN from, Aachen, Germany (as currently being exhibited at the 2019 Geneva Salon)
Yes of course. When I posted the puzzled in February I didn't know this car was going to be shown in Geneva a few days later!  :P SVEN stands for Shared Vehicle Electric Native. First point
C. ECOmove QBEAK from Denmark
No, Oguerrerob got this one.
G: Vetrya, Italy
Since I'm going to give you a bunch of points, I will make you work a bit to get them. ;) Vetrya is the electronics company that presented this car, but what is the model name of the car itself? Locked for you.
H: Kamisato Town Ultra small mobility, Japan
That's what I thought too when I first found this image, but it turns out that this car has another origin and another name. Since you found the Kamisato link, I will lock this for you as well.
J: Project PRCEK Urban Racer, CZ,
Yes. Developed and built by Martin Hreben & Jiri Uiberlay, presented in 2013. Second point.
K: Daechang Daningo, South Korea
Yes. The name is actually Danigo. This Twizy competitor was presented in 2017 and is said to have a 100 km autonomy. Third point.
L: PICAV (Personal Intelligent City Accessible Vehicle), from Australia
Yes, it's the PICAV. It surprises me that you assign it Australian nationality, because this is a European Union project, in which many entities of different countries participated, but all of them were European. The project was led by the University of Genoa, so had this car as Italian. Anyway, I consider this one solved and it's your fourth point.
M: Belo, based on an OSTAV platform, Greece
Yes. This is a virtual design proposal by Roe Design Studio, located in Tríkala, which is also accesible for wheelchair users. Fifth point.
N: Mobilis Li, Brazil
Yes. Mobilis is a start-up created by the engineers Thiago Hoeltgebaum, Mahatma Marostica and Paulo Zanetti, based in Palhoça, near Florianopolis. The Li, presented in 2017, is supposed to go on sale this year, in three possible configurations: Trail, Comfort and Work. Sixth point.
P: Thalia, Mexico
Thalia is the base model name of this car, but I'm going to ask you for the name of the company behind it, and the name of this specific version (again, there are three). Locked too.
So there you go! You get six points from this post, and there are another three waiting. :applause:

Oh dear. I stumbled into the same pitfall again, rebadged Chinese cars. I knew this car was one of the many knockoffs that exist of the Estrima Biró, but I shouldn't have naively trusted my source when it said it was otherwise a local creation. So, I will give you a point for giving one if its possible true origins, and I will give another point to whoever finds the Non-Chinese identity given to the specific variant of the puzzle picture, with that specific logo on the grille.
