Yaaay

I had originally found the picture in a forum where a member named Liam McCaffrey described his "Mutant" project, which would be powered by a Volvo supercharged engine and use the running gear of an MX-5. But after investigating a bit more I found that he had not yet built it, but had bought the original molds of this bodywork from Procomp Motorsport and was planning to make another identical body (These posts were from 2011, and the Mutant appears to not have been completed, but McCaffrey is now building a Rover-powered Midlana). The car in the picture turned out to be something called a Westfield SS1 (or Sport 2000, depending on who you ask). The first reference to it online is from 2003, where its (anonymous) owner decribes it as a road-legal one-off kit car made in 1988, and then modified for track use in 1996. At some point in the 2000s it was advertised for sale on Pistonheads and Ebay; the ads are long gone but some pictures still float around. Below is another picture of the car in an earlier incarnation.
